JOB SUMMARY: 

RN will float throughout the Mon Health System facilities providing care to patients admitted to Nursing Units. All RNs will have orientation to gain broad knowledge of the Mon Health System and provided orientation at each facility to learn EMR and orientation to your unit. Staffing needs will be assessed by the centralized staffing office and RN will be assigned to nursing units based on needs of units at the individual facilities. RN will be scheduled on Master Scheduling Log and on individual department schedules.  Any changes made to the schedule will come from the Staffing Office after communication with the department leader.  The RN will be made aware of changes and report to assigned unit.

RNs will perform the following:

  • Provides Patient-centered competent care ensuring optimal service to the communities we serve
  • Completion of Competency Based Orientation requirements
  • Maintains current knowledge related unit specific nursing
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgement and leadership in planning for the care of the patient
  • Timely acknowledgement and completion of physician orders
  • Accurate and timely medication administration utilizing bar code medication administration scanning and reassessment
  • Accurate and timely documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record
  • Assesses and coordinates patients’ discharge planning needs with members of healthcare team
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Incorporates and adheres to national patient safety standards and appropriate utilization of safety practices within each facility
  • Recognizes and responds to changes in patients’ condition and report as appropriate
  • Performance of hourly rounds and beside report for optimal hand-off of care
  • Effectively communicates with patients, family members, providers, and co-workers
  • Demonstrates effective use of facility (EMRs)
  • Provides patient and family education
  • Demonstrates ICARE Values in patient, family, and staff interactions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: ASN; Preferred BSN

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an acute care Hospital.

Licensure/Certification: WV RN License; BLS Required; ACLS Preferred (ACLS to be obtained within 12 months of hire)*

Schedule: Full Time, Flex
